How is the amount calculated?

By distance: up to 1,500 km €250; 1,500–3,500 km €400; over 3,500 km €600 (within the EU it stays €400). Turkish domestic flights pay a flat €100.

Does a 3-hour delay qualify?

Yes — compensation is due when you arrive at your final destination 3 hours or more after the scheduled time, unless the airline proves extraordinary circumstances.

How far back can I claim?

In Turkey the general time limit is 10 years; in the EU it varies by country (e.g. 3 years in Germany, 2 years in Italy). Flights from 2016 onward are usually still claimable.
